A musculoskeletal assessment is a structured process used to understand your symptoms, movement, function, relevant health history, and activity goals.Depending on your presentation, it may include discussion of your symptoms and training history, observation of movement, joint mobility testing, strength or control testing, and other relevant clinical tests. The assessment helps guide discussion about appropriate care, self-management, rehabilitation, or whether another form of assessment or referral may be needed. You will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout, and the plan will be discussed with you before treatment begins.
Hands-on treatment may be used where appropriate and with your consent. Depending on your assessment and preferences, this may include spinal manipulative therapy, joint mobilisation, soft-tissue therapy, assisted stretching/relaxation techniques or dry needling.Hands-on care is considered as one part of a broader management plan, rather than a stand-alone solution. Education, activity guidance, and rehabilitation exercise may also be used to support your goals.
Where appropriate, you may be given an individualised rehabilitation or exercise program. This may include mobility, strength, balance, conditioning, or gradual return-to-activity exercises, depending on your goals and starting point.Programs are designed to be practical and realistic for your current capacity, schedule, available equipment, and preferred activities—whether that is returning to the gym, running, sport, work, or everyday movement.
